Flashback

When you stop by KICKING UP DUST  you will be visiting a Virtual Music  Museum.  Through time

we are going to load this site with much history and data about the evolution of the entertainment business...from the Native American drum to the guitar that the Spanish brought across the Rio Grande with the horse, the cow and the guitar.  This CYBERSEQUEL eDOCUMENTARY  will take you on a multimedia ride from barn dances to Internet Cybercasts.  We will see how the technological inventions

of the time spurred on the evolution of the entertainment business.  We will see how the train, the

telegraph and other early inventions began to help create a Nation, and how the music changed with

the times.

We will be using some of the new digital forms of communication, and the new developments in tech-
nology to tell you the story about the inventions that brought us to the present stage that the entertain-
ment business is in at the close of a millennium.  You'll be able to travel through different areas and
different time-lines by clicking the hyper links that you will find throughout the Saga.  We will create a
sense of immersion into history.  You be your own guide, we will give you trails and tracks to follow
the musical saga KUD.

KUD will take you on a multimedia ride down a historical trail that is truly American.  KUD follows the
musical trail cut by minstrel troupes, medicine shows and  Buffalo Bill Cody and his Wild West Show,
that toured Broadway and the World in the early eighteen eighties.  From mountain music of the East,
"race" and "hillbilly" music, jazz, blues and gospel music of the South, and other influences that were
fusing to create a music that was to become a timeless tradition...from the cowboys singing "Western"
music on the lonely trail drives of yesteryear, cuttin' a musical trail for legends like Jimmie Rodgers,
"The Father of Country Music"...and who inspired folks like Gene Autry, Buck Page, Woody Guthrie
and Ramblin' Jack Elliott, you will learn tales about the "First Family of Country Music" The Carter
Family, then to those that followed in the paths of all these great Icons and how they influenced folks
like Lefty Frizzell, Elvis, Bob Dylan, the Gratefull Dead, Merle Haggard and Willie Nelson and those
that followed.

The Saga will document the birth and rise of vaudeville and burlesque, the legends and pioneers that
rode the wave of change that saw the advent of the phonograph (talking machines), radio (the wireless)
and the "flickers" as they became the "talkies"...from Thomas A. Edison casting Buffalo Bill Cody and
Annie Oakley in his Kinescope Parlor...to today when we cybercast  information on the World Wide
Web...The Internet.  To tie this cybersequel to the world of today we will have some of the great con-
temporary stars of today to tell how the pioneers of the past might have influenced their music today.

As the singing cowboys go out West to Hollywood and ride the new entertainment mediums, taking

their Western music to the big silver screen, then through the road houses and honky tonks, and on

the juke boxes of America... a new form of music is being born.  Country Music and the music of

Bob Wills and his Texas Playboys, Hank Williams and his Drifting Cowboy Band to Patsy Cline,

Buck Owens, George Jones and many great country legends, the new sound being born is on the

way to becoming a great American tradition.  As the musical mavericks of one generation became the

folk heroes of the next generation, we see the evolution of a historical music Saga.

Coming soon...special
tribute to Willie Nelson

As the century is passing the half year point, Ernest Tubb is taking country music to Carnegie Hall, Bill
Haley (who was inspired by Bob Wills) is pioneering rock n' roll, and has just cut his first record on the
"Cowboy" label with this band "The Four Aces of Western Swing".  Elvis Presley is being called the
"King of Western Bop", and playing with the Starlite Wranglers, while Hank Williams and Lefty Frizzell
top the charts.  Then the KUD band wagon begins to rock and roll through the history of the 105-'s when
the world saw the birth and rise of Rock and Roll.  We will learn more about legends like Alan Freed,
Buddy Holly, Bill Haley, Chuck Berry, The Diamonds, Little Richard and more.  Music now had another
major highway to travel.  There was folk and race music, hillbilly and western, country and there was
Rock and Roll, and there was Blues and Jazz. and the music of Bessie Smith and Louis Armstrong.

Then the KUD Saga evolves to the sixties, where in Texas and on the West coast another music fusion
is taking place, and a new  sound is being heard in the music of Gram Parsons and his work with The
Byrds (Sweetheart of The Rodeo Album), his band The Flying Burrito Brothers, and bands like The Buffalo
Springfield, Linda Ronstadt and the Stone Ponies, Rickey Nelson the Stone Canyon Band, and the Nitty
Gritty Dirt Band, while  in San Francisco Jerry Garcia gets a steel guitar and starts The New Riders of the
Purple Sage with John "Marmaduke" Dawson and some members of the Grateful Dead...At the same time
Rock and Roll was traveling down a road of growth like never seen in the Music Industry and the Beatles,
Jim Morrison and the Doors,  Hendrix, The Who, Zeplin and many other groups were setting the course
of Rock and Roll that would evolved from Europe then head to  the West Coast and explode all over the
World.

Then we hear from Austin, Texas and the "Cosmic Cowboy" sound coming from the Armadillo World
Headquarters, where acts like Jerry Jeff Walker, Michael (Martin) Murphey, Gary P. Nunn, Rusty Weir and
others are giving birth to a new sound, while West Coast Cowboys like Peter Rowan and Comander Cody
and  the others mentioned above are setting the stage for Willie Nelson to move to Austin and ride the
"Outlaw Country" music sound to new heights...along on the ride was Kris Kristofferson, Waylon Jennings,
Johnny Cash (who had already blazed a few music fusions in the past) Emmylou Harris, Tanya Tucker and
some mavericks from the South like Charlie Danniels, and Lynyard Skynyrd, who with the Eagles and the
world of rock and roll all ride to the invent of Music Television, or better known as MTV.

The Kud Cybersequel will follow the music saga on through the birth of disco, heavy metal, glam rock and
the other music fusions and styles of the eighties.  When asked what the nineties would be remembered
for Dick Clark said, "The rise of country music."  KUD will take a close look at the country music and rock
and roll of the new millennium and the female divas and the teen super stars.  As we interview today's
super stars about yesterday's pioneers we will have a CYBERSAGA that will tell the story of the
history of the entertainment business in the United States.
